Jimmy O’Brien Moran & Jessie Smith

The Crane Bar / Monday 13 June at 9pm / Admission €10

Jimmy O’Brien Moran from Tramore in Co. Waterford, a piper of note, will be remembered by many as a member of the ground breaking band Scullion. Jimmy will perform music from his CD Take Me Tender, a tribute to the music of Paddy Conneely, a blind piper who lived in Galway in the mid-1800s. Having survived the Great Famine, Conneely died on September 11 1851. However over 180 pieces of his music had been transcribed by at least five collectors, leaving a fascinating record of piping style and repertoire of pre-Famine Ireland. Jimmy will be joined by Irish American fiddler Jessie Smith.
